Designed for the locals
The restaurant at Sophy Hotel in Hyde Park needed to attract a strong local following. With an exceptionally well-designed space, a warm atmosphere and a new-American style menu, the bar and restaurant required a clever brand that welcomed area residents.
Taking a cue from the intellectual branding of Sophy, B&Co. explored names and Mesler was the winner. Stemming from the notion to mix and mingle, Mesler’s branding centered on an orchestration of senses and a fusion of flavors. The name also hints at the interiors, which combines themes of science, art and mathematics.
The Old French verb mesler, which means "to mix," was the perfect word to convey both people and flavors coming together.
Mesler reflects a smart brand designed to impress the diverse and well-educated locals in this University of Chicago neighborhood.
