Outlaws Welcome, Always

THE CHALLENGE

Mountain Lodge Telluride needed more than a restaurant—it needed a dining destination with a point of view. The menu was strong, blending global flavors with hearty mountain fare, but the story behind it was missing. We built a brand that unified the menu under one compelling narrative and gave the restaurant a personality bold enough to stand out in Telluride’s dining scene.

The logo for Alloy Kitchen in white, stylized font on a dark background. The A in Alloy has a unique design, and there is a small orange star separating the two words.

Inspired by the mining camps that shaped the town and the camp cooks who kept them running, we crafted a brand that celebrates elevated mountain cuisine with a little frontier edge.

Flavors Forged at 9,500 feet

While gold and silver are prized for their individual value, they’re forged into an alloy to become something stronger, brighter, and more enduring. We found that same idea in Chef Lonnie Shepard’s menu. Global flavors, local ingredients, and mountain comfort food come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts – something distinctly Telluride. That narrative became the connective thread for the Alloy dining experience. In celebrating the town’s long history of cultural exchange, we gave the menu a story that’s every bit as rich as the food itself.

Several matchbooks for Alloy Kitchen are arranged on an orange wall. They feature black and red designs, including a large letter A with a star and a graphic of a silver-dome food platter, wine glass, and bottle, cast in dappled sunlight.

A visual identity that balances Telluride's rugged history with the refined character of today's mountain town.

Good Ole’ Western Charm

The custom logo draws from handmade signs found throughout early mining camps, giving the brand an approachable, handcrafted quality. The signature “A” subtly transforms into an anvil – a nod to the metalsmiths whose work shaped the region and to the alloy process itself.

Sheriff’s stars, vintage typography, and whimsical illustrations depicting mountain adventure and camp life create a visual language that feels authentic without becoming costume. The color palette plays off of Telluride’s landscape and history – a fiery red inspired by glowing iron paired with a weathered green and warm neutrals marry rugged heritage with modern mountain hospitality.
