The neighborhood of Hato Rey, or "King's Cattle Farm," was once an agricultural mecca. Today, it’s a thriving financial hub where business deals are made daily over drinks and dinner. At Bullion, the district’s economic past comes to life through flavors and fare, and in turn, it becomes a sought-after destination where diners decide the fiscal future.
A Story of Prosperity
A financial district on the rise, San Juan’s Golden Mile needed a dining destination reflective of its growing momentum. With locals and visitors both in need of a decadent Happy Hour or client dinner, this expense-account crowd needed a menu and a scene that could impress. A steakhouse concept naturally emerged and perfectly aligned with the region’s history of cattle, rum, and coffee production. Rich flavors, earthy notes, and impressive service underscored an identity of abundance and prosperity. Bullion was born.
Bullion refers to gold of high purity and connects naturally to Hato Rey’s Golden Mile and its role as Puerto Rico’s financial center. The name also cleverly plays on the bull, an unmistakable nod to steak.
The Centerpiece of Hato Rey
We built Bullion’s visual identity around the convergence of agriculture and finance, translating the richness of Hato Rey’s Golden Mile into a sophisticated, tactile brand. Earthy greens and shades of gold evoke the abundance of the land, while leather and marbled textures add warmth and depth.
A custom currency-engraved illustration style became a defining element of the identity, depicting lush agricultural imagery through the intricate linework traditionally associated with banknotes. The result creates a clever visual dialogue between farming and finance.
The logo draws inspiration from physical bullion bars, with stepped framing and elongated lines. Strong yet softened serifs give the typography a grounded character, while references to the lettering found on currency inspired the standalone B icon. The mark extends into a typographic pattern and custom merchandise, giving the brand a distinctive visual signature across the guest experience.
