Pomelo

A Garden in the Sky

THE CHALLENGE

A destination rooftop restaurant perched atop the new Brandywine Hotel was still in its early stages of conception when our team stepped in to craft its identity. Fresh, vibrant, and botanical, Pomelo captures the spirited energy of the space—bright, effortless, and distinctly modern.

Pomelo, born from botanical curiosity and elevated effervescence, offers equal parts zest and romance, making it an alluring spot for locals and an exciting find for hotel guests invited to gather and linger.

Where time slows and senses awaken

To develop a brand for the rooftop at The Brandywine, we considered the space: A fifth-floor dining room enclosed in glass, elevating the outlet amongst the tree-tops in a verdant landscape. The image of a lush country orangerie immediately came to mind and set the foundation for the identity. A beverage-forward menu, where sips and bites are beautifully presented, refreshingly coastal, and colorfully curious, informed the tone. These themes reinforced a citrus-centric identity that promised relaxed elegance and savored moments.

A tall glass with a light yellow fizzy drink, garnished with a sprig of lavender, sits on a marble table next to a green menu cover with the Pomelo logo in gold foil.
A floral cocktail garnished with herbs and flowers sits on a blue-striped coaster, next to two round coasters—one reads Savor The Moment and the other has a small decorative design of a pomelo wheel—all on a marble surface.

A secluded, sundrenched setting serves as the perfect backdrop for a brand identity centered on airy layouts, organic type, and coastal flair. Pomelo’s resulting visual identity feels effortlessly serene.

Refreshingly Bold

B&Co. recommended the name Pomelo, the largest and most aromatic of the citrus fruits, to reflect the space and experience: lush, bold and full of life.

The Pomelo wordmark takes inspiration from the shape of pomelos themselves, featuring a rounded “E” that gives the wordmark a sense of organic balance. Supporting details include elegant framing, a pomelo icon that looks like it could be made into stained glass, and small citrus seeds that playfully punctuate the page.

The Pomelo branding feels at once sunkissed and blooming. Coastal blue and herbaceous green do the unexpected for an brand centered around citrus: They ground the identity and give it a sense of relaxed elegance. A bright green creates a refreshing twist and rose gold foil makes it glimmer.
